Tomorrow’s ADR Day in New Jersey
11 April 2007I’ll be attending ADR Day tomorrow, New Jersey’s tenth annual.
Reminds me of a mediation I was doing the other day where one lawyer said, “Well, if we can’t settle here, we can do ADR.” I said, “what do you mean, arbitration?”
“Yeah, arbitration, we’ll get an old retired judge to decide this thing.”
The parties did settle, so another ADR tool wasn’t necessary. I left for another day the ADR conversation.
So, maybe we still have a ways to go on the education frontier.
The good news is most law students are exposed to mediation and ADR or CDR early on.
ADR day is sponsored by the state’s legal continuing legal education institute (NJ ICLE).
